Action Medical Research: Research Training Fellowships 2025 Call for Applications

Their prestigious Research Training Fellowship scheme has been running for 50 years and aims to build the UK research base by training the research leaders of the future.

Applications are now invited for 2025 Research Training Fellowships from medical graduates, clinicians, bioengineers, research nurses, physiotherapists and allied health professionals who wish to train in research techniques and methodology applied to subjects relevant to the aims of the charity. Their emphasis is on biomedical clinical research or research at the interface between clinical and basic science.

The awards provide two to three years funding (salary and consumables). This round they hope to award two to three fellowships including one joint funding opportunity:

As part of this year’s open competition Research Training Fellowship round, Action Medical Research and the British Paediatric Neurology Association (BPNA) are working together to offer a joint fellowship award.

The proposed research must be related to clinical neurology and/or neuroscience including neurodisability, neurodevelopment and neurosurgery. Fellowship applicants for this joint award are expected to be pre-doctoral trainee clinicians and will either already hold a UK or Irish specialist training post in Paediatric Neurology or be planning to apply for a specialist training post in Paediatric Neurology or Neurodisability after completion of a PhD, applicants can include paediatric neurosurgeons. Fellowship applicants could become members of the BPNA for the duration of the fellowship if they are not one at the moment. Both the proposed application and fellowship applicant must meet the BPNA charitable aims.

How do I apply?

Please complete the Research Training Fellowship outline form available from the Action Medical Research website.

The closing date for all outline applications is 2 July 2024.

Applicants for the joint fellowship with BPNA should complete a pre-outline questionnaire as soon as possible and at least three weeks before the outline closing date.

If your outline is accepted, full application details will be emailed to you.  Successful candidates can take up their awards from April 2025.
